The recently launched Tata Zest sedan was awarded the ‘Compact Sedan of the year’ and Best value for money car’ at the Bloomberg TV Autocar India Awards.

Engineered for global customers and built in the same Pune district plant as the Tata Xenon, sold in Australia by Fusion Automotive, the Zest is an all-new platform based on the company’s HorizoNext strategy that embraces DesigNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext to deliver best-in-class performance.

Zest buyers can choose either a Tata Motors developed 1.2 litre four-cylinder, turbocharged, Multi-point Fuel Injection (MPFi) engine with drive by wire technology; a first for the Indian automotive market or in another first, a 5-speed automatic transmission featuring auto and sequential shifting modes fitted to the 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel engine.

On hearing of the announcement, Fusion Automotive Managing Director Darren Bowler said: “We congratulate the Tata Motors team on winning the Autocar India awards with the all-new Zest.

“While we don’t plan to launch it here, our goal is to expand the Tata Motors product portfolio to include passenger cars in the future; but right now we are concentrating on growing the Xenon light commercial vehicle range”, he added.
